Summary

A brilliant investigation into the motivations and methods behind the actions of Hogwarts's renowned Headmaster!

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, is one of the most recognizable and mysterious figures in the Harry Potter series。 As an unscrupulous beetle-like journalist once said, he's "a biographer's dream。" Is he omniscient or limited? Is he benevolent or malevolent? What really drove him in the last years of an extraordinary life?

Dumbledore dives between the lines of the Harry Potter books to create a portrait of the controversial Headmaster。 We find Dumbledore's hand in every seeming coincidence, and consider the impossible decisions he had to make。 This in-depth examination from author Irvin Khaytman casts the events of the Harry Potter series in a whole new light, resolving fans' questions that linger to this day。

Part of my dislike for this book may stem from the fact that I requested it from my library based on the title alone, “The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore,” and I was expecting (or hoping for, I should say) a book like the biography Rita Skeeter published in DH。 Instead, it’s a dull “book” (at about 200 pages with very large print, this could’ve been a large brochure, or a story in a collection of essays, instead of a stand alone work) from a fan just basically rehashing the events of the book Part of my dislike for this book may stem from the fact that I requested it from my library based on the title alone, “The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore,” and I was expecting (or hoping for, I should say) a book like the biography Rita Skeeter published in DH。 Instead, it’s a dull “book” (at about 200 pages with very large print, this could’ve been a large brochure, or a story in a collection of essays, instead of a stand alone work) from a fan just basically rehashing the events of the books。 There’s nothing interesting; nothing new; nothing remotely interesting。 The author is obviously a huge fan of the series, but the problemIs that this is just exactly what the book comes off as, just a bunch of mediocre thoughts from a fan。 I found the writing style meh, not horrible but certainly not good either。 I was curious about how old the author was and opened the book again to check and I realized he quoted “The Cursed Child” right before the intro。 I guess I missed that part or I wouldn’t have bothered reading this at all。 Anyway, this review is going from a two to a one for even mentioning that travesty。 。。。more

A complete character analysis of one of the most complex Harry Potter characters。 If, like me, you’re an avid fan of the potter books and have reread them several times over the years then this book is definitely for you! Whilst I don’t agree with everything Irvin writes there are some very interesting perspectives! I’ve learned a lot about little bits I’ve never picked up on before and it’s left me with lots to think about。 The book is extremely well written and researched。

I thought it was written well。 It delves into speculative areas of intrigue and comes out with some good reflections on the man that is/was Dumbledore。 Many fan theories are discussed and overall I think that many of the ideas presented do indeed fit the human man Dumbledore。 Reading this has let in other possibilities of what really could have happened, and how those ideas flow through and along side the original writing of J。K。Like the author says, you may disagree about some of the points he I thought it was written well。 It delves into speculative areas of intrigue and comes out with some good reflections on the man that is/was Dumbledore。 Many fan theories are discussed and overall I think that many of the ideas presented do indeed fit the human man Dumbledore。 Reading this has let in other possibilities of what really could have happened, and how those ideas flow through and along side the original writing of J。K。Like the author says, you may disagree about some of the points he makes, however, whether you agree or disagree, the ideas forwarded, all lead one to deeper discussions。 Discussing Harry Potter is a good thing。 I enjoyed it and read it in one sitting。 。。。more

Fantastic read。 Not a book to pick up lightly。 It can be quite heavy in parts, in depth and you have to really focus or you will miss important information。 A must read for Harry Potter fans。
